4. Bells Festival – Carnival

The traditional Bells Festival, which takes place in the city during the whole month, is celebrated with many events and comes to its peak on the 24th with a colorful parade of Men Wearing Bells at the seafront. 5. The Ancient city of Philippi

The ancient city of Philippi is the most important archaeological site of Eastern Macedonia and one of the most well preserved ancient cities of Greece. Walk through its monuments and discover the architecture of Ancient Greece, Roman and Byzantine times. There is also a wonderful theatre, the second best ancient theatre of Greece (following that of Epidaurus) and a wonderful museum. You can reach Philippi through the new Egnatia Road in less than 2 hours and there you will be able to see the remaining of the Ancient Egnatia Road, one of the biggest Ancient roads in the country.


6. Music

If you are an admirer of classical music, opera and top quality performances, Thessaloniki has many events of this kind to offer. In this time of the year there are various concerts of symphonic music in Thessaloniki Concert Hall, such as the Symphony No 11 by Shostakovitch, a concert dedicated to Beethoven etc. At the Royal Theatre you can enjoy a concert dedicated to Edith Piaf’s music with the Symphonic Orchestra of Thessaloniki. 7. Thessaloniki by night

8. Ski time
